Get Fit Over 40 - Fitness Training Over 40

When you hit 40 and beyond you can't expect your body to react like it did when you where in your 20s or earlier.

That's not to say you can't get a great workout or even get in the best shape of your life after 40! You just need to make sure not to over-do-it, listen to what your body is telling you, give it plenty of rest and don't make an injury worse by aggravating it by doing the wrong exercises.

Try changing up your program and finding alternatives that are more comfortable for your body and its quirks. Always start out light, even if you have to add a few sets in before you move up to the heavier weights. And make sure you don't go too heavy and cause an injury that could put you out of action for a few weeks or even months, it's just not worth it in the end. Pushing mid level weight can build muscle just as well.

Make sure to stretch and not before you workout, do it during. The best time is right after you have done a light warmup set. After you finish up an exercise, stretch that muscle a bit more.

You do need to push yourself but there will be times when you just need to take some time off, you'll know, just don't take to much time off or it can get really hard to get back in the routine. I like to take two to three days off when I'm felling burned out, any more and for me it gets hard to jump back in.

Heavy Weights vs Light Weights | Build Muscle (THE WINNER IS...)

Build more muscle by training smarter - to this channel here - question of whether to use heavy weights or light weights to build muscle is one of the most common training questions. The answer is not so straight forward. The fact of the matter is that in order to build as much muscle as possible you better learn that you need to lift light weights at times and heavy weights at other times. In fact, there is a third way that you should be lifting as well if you want to get serious muscle.

In this video, I use the example of the shoulder side lateral raise to illustrate how to build muscle using both light weights and heavy weights on the same exercise. It has to do with the portion of the contraction that you are attempting to focus the overload necessary for building mass on. If you are looking to overload the concentric or positive portion of the lift then you better get used to lowering the weight that you are using.

That’s right. Leave the ego lifting at the door when you are trying to build muscle by overloading the concentric. Often times, way too much momentum is used to throw a weight up during the concentric on an exercise. This disperses the force from the single area that you are trying to build up to the many areas and muscles around the muscle in question and therefore weakens the overall effect on the target muscle.

On the contrary, if you are trying to stress the eccentric or lowering phase of a muscle contraction on a target muscle then you better get used to asking for help from surrounding muscles in order for this to work the best. In the example of the side lateral raise for shoulders, the middle delts can recruit additional help from the traps, rear delts and even torso muscles to safely help cheat the weight up into position where a stronger eccentric can be performed.

Relying solely on the amount of weight that can be strictly muscled up by the singular muscle in question will limit the amount of weight that you can use on an eccentric (and therefore will be limiting your size potential). This technique is actually something that you can apply to not just this one exercise but almost every exercise you can do.

That said, this combination of heavy weights and light weights is not enough to complete the picture. The explosive component of your training can only be achieved by using a weight that is in the middle of the two extremes shown here and focusing on accelerating the weight as you lift it. This introduces the element of power to strength. Power combined with concentric and eccentric overload makes your size and strength gains even more functional.

6 Muscle Gaining Mistakes (SLOW OR NO GROWTH!!)

Gain muscle fast by training like an athlete it comes to gaining muscle, it’s not just about the workouts and exercises that you do but how you do them. In this video, I cover this and many other muscle gaining mistakes that could be holding you back from building the mass you should be from your workouts. You don’t even have to be a beginner to benefit from this video, as many advanced lifters can still be making many of these mistakes.

The first big workout or muscle gaining mistake is to overtrain. Now despite what you may have been told, overtraining is a very real thing that befalls many lifters during their attempts to build muscle mass fast. They fall for the concept of more is better not realizing that if they are going to attempt to lift without the assistance of ped’s then their capacity to recover will be limited. With a healthy respect for one’s ability to recover from hard workouts, you can carefully walk the line between overtraining and not overtraining and use that to build as much muscle as you can naturally.

That said, the next mistake is even more rampant than the first and that is under training. Simply attending a gym does not grant you the right to build muscle. You actually have to put in the work when you are there if you want to see appreciable muscle gains. Many people will hit the gym and never bring enough intensity to their training to see their muscles grow and grow quickly.

In fact, once you master the balance between over and under training you will see that it is actually not that difficult to tip in your favor. By trading in workout length for intensity you will be able to build muscle mass while working out less. Your increased exercise and workout intensity will lead to faster muscle growth and more time to allow your body to recover and grow back strong.

Speaking of strong, no solid physique is built without becoming strong on your foundation exercises like the bench press, deadlift and squat. That said, many people who struggle to gain muscle are often the same people who skip out on doing these exercises. There is a valid reason for it. These exercises can be intimidating to those who lack the strength and technique to perform them. Opting for easier versions however like concentration curls and pushups is not the answer long term. Start performing these exercises and build your confidence with them and you will see your muscles build and grow as well.

Nutritionally, eating either too few calories or not enough nutrient dense calories will derail your pursuit of more muscle. Nutrition is and always will be a very important part of the equation. If you want to gain muscle you need to have your diet plan and meal plans in place to support your new muscle growth. Stop thinking that just because you are getting in enough calories that you have the goods to grow muscle. You may not. If you don’t have enough quality, nutrient dense calories coming in you will find it almost impossible to gain muscle fast or at all.

But with all activities and hobbies, there is such a thing as taking something too far. In this video, are people who took bodybuilding to the extreme, either they died from their training, they were left permanently disfigured, or they continue to pursue their endeavors despite looking inhuman. We call them dedicated, winners, or even crazy. How To Build Muscle for Beginners

It's Mike Chang and today I want to talk about some advice for beginners who want to build real muscle. The truth is, beginners make mistakes and so listen up as I'm about to help you better understand how building muscle works.

Alright, let's discuss this so you can put these ideas into practice immediately to get the muscular body you've always wanted, faster.

- Honestly, you doing anything is better than you doing nothing.

- You don't have any weights or a gym membership? Do push ups if you're looking to build your chest, for example.

- What works for one person may not work for another, you have to find it.

OK, the best advice that I can truly give you is that you need to eat more then what you are currently. Now, I don't want to hear,"but I eat so much Mike that it's crazy, Mike you don't understand". The truth of the matter is that you still need to eat more. Your body burns everything in your system so there is usually nothing left to grab on to. You need to make sure your body has something to grab on to.

2:03 Tip #1 // Start eating your favorite foods.

I know they might not be healthy, but I just want you to develop the habit of always putting something in your mouth. Now, once you develop that habit while doing this then you must switch over to getting all of your calories, and nutrients from REAL good foods.

4:07 Tip #2 // Eat dessert

Best time to do so is actually during post workout. The goal is to put on weight and not worry about eating right during your gain phase. when you have finally reached a weight where you feel you are too big. Then cut down a bit on the dessert at that time.

5:34 Tip #3 // Set an alarm for eating

This will create an habit of constant eating. Eat even if your not hungry, the more you eat the bigger you get. But if you get too big, you have reached your goal.

Also you need to be hitting the gym while consuming all of these calorie. If you don't you will gain mostly fat.

-Train 4 times a week, don't worry about working out everyday. The reason is that your body probably has a very high metabolism so training everyday might not be needed right now.

-Make sure you train Heavy and do compound movements. Compound movement are exercises that uses 2 or more large muscle groups. The reason for his is that it will force the body to create mainly muscles with the extra amount of calories you are consuming.

Make sure you follow these Tips, Now go eat and put that muscle on.

And as a man, when you have excess estrogen in your body... your body becomes a fat storing machine.

Now here's the problem... getting rid of your belly fat is very difficult when you already have low testosterone.

And this becomes a vicious fat gaining cycle that most men become trapped in - I myself used to be that guy.

Those that have little will have less and those who have little but start to use it will get more…as simple as that. And on top of that, your body will start releasing higher levels of growth hormone when you reach a high activity level, meaning: feeling younger, better skin, more energy, lust for life and many other positive things…too many to mention.

As with so many things in life those that grab opportunity and DO something will have and those sitting back will have less…much less.

Yes, you CAN look better than you did when you was 20. I do and I am now 48 and every year I am looking even better than the previous one.

You have serious control over both those two miracle hormones: testosterone and growth hormone.

That is two key ingredients why you felt so good and look so good when you where young.

But it will not just come by itself…you will really have to MAKE it happen.

It will not happen by changing a single thing or starting to jog a little.

To get those hormones released and get them to do their job you will have to train hard and vigorously.

It will be painfull..initially. You can easily throw in the towel. Many does. How much do you want it? Think about it…I say…there is NO CHOICE! JUST DO IT! DO NOT TURN BACK!

Be wise how you do it. Slow gradual steps…climb the ladder step by step…leap and you will fall.

Full attack: Train right and train hard, eat correct for growth and recuperation, rest enough to allow recuperation and supplement with potent multi vitamins and lots of water.

Become what you never was….become the best you can ever be.

Be noticed…have a presence…and the best part…change inside.

Don’t just make it and outside change. Make you like the whole you, inside and out. That makes this new change soooooo much more worthwhile.

Care about the less privileged, care about your neighbour and start joining projects to help needy people.

You can have a new body, a new lust for life, look and feel the best you’ve ever did and have the cherry on the cake of having that awesome feeling that you helped someone today…that you’ve made a difference…

Those over 40’s have more time at their disposal…there should be no excuses.

The same hold true for those over 50.

It does not stop there…you can still look kick-ass and be over 70. The choice really is yours.

What Is The Best Way To Gain Muscle Mass? 5 Powerful Strategies To Get Your Body Growing Fast

Here is the best way to gain muscle: lot of guys work out very hard but they don't have enough variety in their muscle gaining program, and this hinders their results.

To avoid this, Troy Adashun gives you 5 strategies to add variety to your workouts and get your muscles growing quickly. The best way to build muscle quicker is to change things up.

The guaranteed formula for failure to gain weight is to repeat the same workout over and over again week after week, month after month. Your body is stubborn and does not want to grow. So you need to constantly challenge your body and expose it to new things that are going to rip up those muscle fibers and allow you to build muscle fast.

So here are 5 muscle-building techniques you can start incorporating into your workouts to force your body to put on muscle mass:

2:51 - STRATEGY #1: Super Sets

A superset is actually 2 exercises done back-to-back with no rest in-between. Once you complete a superset, only then do you take a rest.

For instance you could do a push and pull superset, where you do the bench press, and then go right into a pull-up, or a lat pulldown.

Another example of a superset would be pushups, followed by a bench press.

There really is no wrong way to do a superset. Some people do them by using opposing muscle groups, and others choose to do them using the same muscle group. Both are effective ways to gain muscle faster than you are now.

4:05 - STRATEGY #2: Drop Sets

Dropsets are different than supersets, because they use the same exercise, not a different exercise.

So for instance if you're doing the bench press and you're lifting 250 pounds, you would finish your set, and then immediately drop the weight maybe down to 185 pounds, and then with no rest, do a set. Then once you're done with that set, you'd drop the weight again, maybe to 155 and with no rest, do another set. And you can repeat this once more with 135 pounds.

This is just an example to illustrate how drop sets work.

The effectiveness of drop sets is due to the concept of "time under tension" which is an important concept to grasp if your goal is to gain muscle mass. When you perform a drop set your muscles will typically be under tension for anywhere from a minute to a minute and a half.

5:41 - STRATEGY #3: Pre-Fatigue

The strategy behind this is to pre-exhaust the muscle group you are working, by doing high repetitions of very low weight…

Once you are depleted from this pre-exhaustion stage, you will go into a heavy set. This will shock your muscles, because they aren't used to being forced to lift heavy weight when they are already fatigued.

For instance you might do 50 pushups to pre-fatigue your chest muscles, and then go into a heavy bench press.

7:18 - STRATEGY #4: Negative Reps

Many guys just focus on the positive movement of the exercise. Getting the weight up. But what really helps you put on muscle mass is focusing on the negative portion of each rep. The negative part is when you are lowering the weight down under the force of gravity.

The technique is to prolong the negative movement. In other words, lower the weight very slow. Doing this will be harder, and you won't be able to lift as much weight, but don't worry about that. That's the point; to make it harder and force your muscles to adapt.

An advanced technique is to use forced negative reps. This is when you have your workout partner push the weight down to force your muscles to do even more work as you lower the weight down.

9:31 - STRATEGY #5: Work All Major Muscle Groups In The Same Day

Working your entire body in the same workout has an important effect for guys who want to build muscle fast: It increases your natural anabolic hormone levels like testosterone and growth hormone.

This turns your body into a more anabolic muscle-building machine. The important exercises to include in this workout are: Deadlift, bench press, squat, pull-ups, and dips. And this my friends, is the best way to gain muscle mass.

Workout to Build Muscle Mass (2,958 HOURS LONG!!)

Build muscle much faster with 40 minute workouts you want to build muscle mass you know you have to lift heavy weights, or do you? In this video I show you that lifting heavy is not the prerequisite that you may have thought it was if you are looking to build muscle size. There are many examples of people that are able to add significant muscles without ever picking up a heavy weight, if they are willing to put in extreme amounts of time to do so.

Have you ever noticed how construction workers have very muscular bodies whether or not they even workout? This has to do with the accumulated volumes over time rather than the loads they lift at any one time. Sure, they may be lifting heavy weights at times while on the job. That said, if they had to do this all day every day they would surely burn out or not be able to get much done. It’s the accumulation of the lighter sub maximal loads that helps them to put on much more size than the regular guy based solely on the huge number of hours they spend plying their trade.

I show you the 2,958 hour equation. We get to this number by considering that each of these people covered in this video works roughly a 6 day work week with 8 hour days. If you consider 51 working weeks in the year you realize that each of them are lifting variations of lighter weights (some very very light) and still building lots of muscle because of the accumulated tension. Almost every waking hour of their day is spent lifting weight or applying tension to specific muscles.

Cyclists get huge quads, calves and hamstrings from the sheer volume of riding that they undergo, sometimes even at the expense of their upper body development. Pitchers develop much larger shoulders on their pitching arm compared to their non throwing arm. Barbers, yes even barbers, can get crazy good development in their traps because of the constant elevation of their arms required to cut hair.

Does this mean that you should run out and start spending 48 hours a week working out to build muscle? Not at all. It just illustrates two points. The first is, you can definitely build muscle with light weights IF the volume is high enough to help you do so. There is no absolute that says you have to lift heavy weights to gain muscle size. The second is, that said there is a better way.
