Workout For Older Men: The A-40 Core Set

How older men are dropping belly fat faster than ever: guys I want to show you all one of my all time favorite core-chiseling exercise techniques that I like to call the “A-40”.

An “A-40” consists of 4 ab-targeted moves that are performed back to back with no rest breaks. Each move within the “A-40” will be performed at 10 reps each - Making each “A-40” set a 40 rep six pack accelerator.

So if you are like me, you are probably thinking, well heck - how is this ab workout any different from the other thousands of ab workouts on YouTube? Well - here's how:

Time efficiency. Older guys like you don’t have time for regular ab workouts, this tremendously shortens the time. You hit all areas of your abs in one single set.

Get the abs you've always wanted faster than you thought possible: are challenging but yet do not yield a high risk of injury. If you do regular ab workouts such as crunches and sit-ups, they firstly aren't truly all that effective and they also place a great deal of stress on your spine, neck and lower back.

And finally: Simplicity. One single A-40 set is a complete ab workout, targeting all corners of your midsection. It's the all in one - In addition, The A-40 requires no equipment, and can be done in the comforts of your own home!

Now, doing 40 consecutive reps seems intense, and believe me, it sure is - but as I mentioned before, each of the 4 exercises are structured to focus on all areas of the midsection - Your rectus, obliques, lower abs and even the deepest abdominal layer, the transversus.

The best part about the “A-40” is that it is designed specifically to spare your neck, low back and spine - which are the most common problem areas for men who striving to get ripped six pack abs, ESPECIALLY for guys who are ages 40 and up.

Killer Ripped Shoulder Workout - Men Over 40

Workout Breakdown:

Cable Lateral Raise: Grab the handles of the cables (which should be positioned low), have a slight bend in your knees, push your chest up and out, pulling the shoulders back into the proper posture position, and using your deltoids, raise your arms up to the sides to about shoulder level.

Bent-Over Rear Delt Cable Flyes: Kneeling down to your knees, and bend at the hips so your back is almost parallel to the floor. Turn your arms so that your pinkies are facing up when you pull your arms up toward the ceiling. Feel the contraction in the rear part of your shoulders.

Rear Delt Cable Crossovers (standing):

This is another method you can use to hit your rear delts. Using the same arm position (pinking facing backwards) you're just grabbing the cables from a higher position and pulling them from a crossed position so you get a larger range of motion.

Seated Rear Delt Dumbbell Flyes:

This exercise might require a lower weight than you assume you would use, but remember that the rear delts are a small muscle. Sitting on a bench, lean forward as much as you can until your torso is near parallel to the ground. grab your dumbbells, push your chest out, and pinkies up - and pull your arms up to about level with your shoulders.

So there you have it guys. A few extra exercises you can do for a muscle group that a lot of people forget about - the rear delts. Make sure to incorporate these into your next shoulder day, or an extra once or twice a week when your upper body isn't too tired or sore.

I like keep my body fat between 10% - 13% to compensate the loose skin I got from losing the excess fat. If I get leaner than this, I get the sagging skin look. With my current body fat percentage, I can easily balance between eating my favorite food and healthy food while doing at least 30 minutes exercise 3-4 days a week to maintain it.

Smart Cardio For Full-Body Fat Loss: Functional Cardio Day

How Men Over 40 Get Ripped -- With Abs After 40 Trainer Mark, 53 Year Old Fitness Model

How older men can get six pack abs: guys what's up it's Jonny here with Six Pack Shortcuts and today I want to introduce you to my friend, Mark Mcilyar - A 53 year old fitness model who defies the typical "age-related" excuses that most guys his age make for not taking their health or their aesthetics seriously. He not only talks the talk, but he walks the walk!

Video Breakdown:

0:15 - Well, I'm 53 now currently but growing up I was a jock - I played football and basketball. I'm competitive by nature, so fitness became a passion of mine.

1:12 - And as I grew older and got into my career, I noticed my friends started putting on excess body fat and not taking care of themselves and I just couldn't have that - I carry too much pride in myself to let myself slip like that. Plus, quite honestly, I am competitive so I always strive to look better than the next guy.

1:39 - It's fun to go into the gym and see all the younger guys and think to myself, "I'm in better shape than these guys." It's a huge motivator for me

2:19 - Working out actually gives me MORE energy, and at my age, that's a huge bonus.

3:02 - The hardest part is the first 15 minutes. Once the blood starts flowing, and the pump kicks in - it's all uphill from there!

3:40 - For those over 40, you need to firstly decide how many days (realistically) you can get into the gym. It's all about consistency. Even if it's 2 days a week - Get IN there, it'll be worth it.

4:19 - Also, don't beat yourself up. If you can't get in your workout for what ever reason, take your rest. Recovery is necessary and it HAPPENS. So don't be too hard on yourself but also don't forget to make it up.

5:15 - Eat your ego in the gym. Don't WORRY about how much weight you do in the gym. No one is watching or judging you - Start as light as possible... No one is going to give a shit. Do the exercises with perfect form - and if you need extra warm-up sets, TAKE THEM! It's not worth the risk of injury.

6:48 - Another tip is, never pick a weight that you can't get 10 reps with. That's a good rule of thumb for preventing injuries as you train in your 40's, 50's and even 60's.

7:48 - Boosting testosterone naturally through specific exercises, better sleep as well as multi-joint movements will keep your T-levels in an optimal zone to continue putting on lean muscle mass.

10:28 - And don't think that running is the only answer when it comes to getting excess body fat off. I stick to high intensity interval training which is less time consuming - I get bored easy.

11:56 - So as you guys can tell, Mark KNOWS what he is talking about - He is a man of my own true word when it comes to fitness and we are all stoked to have him back soon for more nutrition, weight loss and training tips.

Drop excess body fat in record time: again for watching, everyone. I know that most of you younger guys may experience obstacles when it comes to getting in the best shape of your life, but I promise you... At the age of 53, if I CAN ACHIEVE this lean, muscular condition then all of you guys at home can do it too - There is a specific set of guidelines that I personally follow in order to get into killer shape and I can't wait to share it with you all.

Vidyut Jamwal, who was last seen 'in action' in the forgettable flick Bullet Raja, has been sorely missing from B-town for some time now. It now seems that this man is all set to storm the Bollywood scene with many films in his kitty.

Known as "The New Age Action Hero of Bollywood", he is currently working on his upcoming Indian action film Commando 2, directed by Deven Bhojani and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, set to be released on 6 January 2017.

His pictures on Instagram will make everyone go wow for sure. Just look at that body!!

In a press meet, Action star Vidyut Jamwal said that his upcoming film Commando 2 has better action, better storyline, and shooting is more expensive compared to the earlier film ‘Commando’.

Vidyut Jamwal will be in the male lead role, while Adah Sharma will be playing the female lead role in the film.

- Get Fit Over 40 Update Video - The Cutting Begins (No Shirt).

I am 6 weeks out to my Victoria Cup Men's Physique fitness contest in Victoria BC and I have officially started my weight cutting for this competition. I plan to compete in both the Masters and Open categories of Men's Physique.

I am currently somewhere between 7-8% body fat according to my Fitbit Aria WiFi Scale and Sculpt Aim Body Composition Reader.

For the record I am just over 6 feet tall, I used to be 6 foot 1 inch but I think I have shrunk a bit in my old age perhaps under the pressure of heavy squaring and Deadlifts ;) I am also around 191-195 pounds depending on the day and time I weigh myself. (So on average around 193 pounds.)

I want to get down to around 5% body fat for contest day which means I need to lose 2 pounds for every body fat percentage decrease I need to make. This means I need to lose around 6 pounds of pure fat in total and get down to around 188 pounds and 5% body fat. I will be training hard this last 6 weeks so putting on a bit of muscle is not out of the question while cutting, I have done it before so I know it can be done again.

My plan is to cut 500 calories per day for the first couple of weeks and then reassess where I am and be either more aggressive or stay the course with my calorie intake. My last week of cutting is always pretty extreme since I do a veggie and fish diet that is super low carb and low calories, I usually lose at least 2-3 pounds in that week and if there is any fat left it will be all gone :)

I will be making weekly videos of my progress up until the week before the contest, then I will most likely be making daily videos in a VLog format till the contest. So keep checking back for more cutting videos to watch me while I shrink

Workout Plan for Skinny Guys / Hardgainers (THIS BUILDS MUSCLE!)

Get the complete workout plan to build muscle in 90 guys and hardgainers have a very difficult time building muscle. Usually the issue is two pronged with both their workouts and nutrition plan to blame for their lack of muscle size. In this video, I’m covering the mistakes made in the workouts and giving you a workout plan for skinny guys that will help you to start adding muscle to your frame without having to sacrifice your low body fat level you likely are starting with.

In order to build muscle as a skinny guy you have to look yourself in the mirror and confront your fears first. I know it sounds odd but it is a common problem that sets the roadblock up, preventing you from making any progress. Many hardgainers will fear going to the gym because they don’t want to face the ridicule of the bigger guys around them. That has to stop today. In fact, you’d likely find that if you talked to the majority of these big muscle guys that they would admire your pursuit of change and might even sympathize with you having taken that journey themselves already.

Once you get to the gym it’s time to start simplifying your workout plan. The biggest problem with skinny guys is that they try and to more rather than less. It’s an obvious mistake and one that I can see why people make so often. That said, if you are not enhanced and are a natural lifter, doing less is almost always the first step to take rather than trying more.

That said, you want to pick just one exercise for each of the six major muscle groups in your body. These are your chest, back, shoulders, legs, and arms. The exercises you choose should be compound in nature and hit multiple muscles at one time. Not just that but these exercises allow you to gradually load up the weight over time as you get stronger. This is why you would pick a barbell curl instead of a concentration curl.

Once you identify the exercises you are going to use (my suggestions are provided in the video) then you want to actually lower the weight you might be inclined to try and use. Remember, your discomfort in the gym might make you try and compensate by swinging around weights that you simply cannot command. Don’t do this. Instead, back down on the weight and make sure you can actually lift it with good form and own it.

From here, the fun begins. Add weight to the bar on every exercise at every opportunity. Soon you will see that your muscles will grow almost before your eyes. You will gain confidence and you will see muscle growth that will inspire you to keep going. Your only goal at this point should be to be sure you are pushing yourself as hard as you can. Only when you get comfortable being uncomfortable will you see the gains continue to come at a rapid pace.

What Guys Over 40 Need To Do Differently To Get Ripped Six Pack Abs

How men over 40 can get a toned, defined six pack: guys, in today’s video I’m going to tell you what men over 40 need to do DIFFERENTLY from younger guys in order to get to six pack abs.

You may ask, well why do we need to do things differently?

Well guys - there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to workouts and nutrition - especially if we are talking about guys in varying age groups. With men over 40, we are talking about a whole new set of rules. Different metabolisms, different mobility, and different hormone levels.

You can’t just follow any YouTube video meant for younger guys and expect that it will work for you.

This is one of the main reasons why most men over 40 are in bad shape. They try workout advice that is meant for younger guys or meant for bodybuilders and they get injured, discouraged and may even just flat out give up... Now this is where I'm stepping in.

In this video I’ll be telling you exactly what you need to do differently as an older guy to finally develop a visible, toned six pack.

1:09 - Tip 1: Your workouts must be specifically designed to support and boost Your Testosterone.

One of the biggest reasons why guys 40 and up don't get the results they are looking for when they embark on their fitness journey is because they aren't performing exercises that are built to optimize their growth hormones and T-level.

Here's how to change that: Start performing multi-joint exercises, guys. Multi-joint exercises such as body weight squats or lunges require multiple muscle groups to fire simultaneously - This triggers your body to ramp up your testosterone production in order to support the compound muscle activation from these types of movements.

3:15 - Tip 2: Guys over 40 must avoid sit-ups, crunches, or anything that puts strain on the neck or spine.

Most generic workout programs contain the same old traditional crunches and sit-ups and I've got to tell you - men over 40 should be avoiding these outdated movements at all costs.

They simply are a waste of time - Believe me, I've been there and done that. This is exactly why the "A-40 set" is such a huge breakthrough for guys like us - I've created an ab routine that targets every section of your abdomen: Your obliques, rectus and even the deepest abdominal layer, your transversus. I've done this by utilizing 4 specific exercises that are done back to back to create the ultimate high intensity, low impact core burn.

5 WORST diet mistakes (for building muscle)

I'm going to show you the five most common mistakes guys make with their diet when trying to build muscle that prevent them from EVER gaining size. I also show you how to avoid each mistake, and what to do instead so that you get the strong, muscular body you want.

Here's the breakdown of mistakes for muscle gain.

**1. Not eating enough calories: If you're not gaining weight, it's probably because you're not eating enough. Remember weight training only promotes muscle growth and its the calories that actual puts muscles on the body.

**2. Not eating enough Carbs: Most of people afraid of carbs because of all the fitness fad diets out there claiming that carbs are the #1 cause of fat gain. Not only is this not true, but carbs is actually one of the most important part of muscle growth.

**3 Not pre-cooking your meals in advance. Pre-cooking meals is the key to eating healthy and for muscle growth. For building muscle, we need to eat every two hours or so and without prepared meals... you'll never have time and the patience to set up the meal at those specific time.

**4 Eating crazy amounts of protein: Your body could only absorb a certain amount of protein, about 1 gram per pound a day. So over eating protein will do you no good, in fact you'll be so focused on eating protein you'll end up forgetting to eat carbs.

**5 Permanent bulking: What happens to many guys is that they forget to diet back down after bulking up. With permanent bulking, you'll end up putting on a lot of size but at the cost of some fat gain and the more fat you gain the harder it takes to burn off. And remember you actually look bigger with a ripped body.

Celebrity Photoshop Fails Strongest Kids In The World notion of “hitting the gym” means different things to different fitness-inclined people. For some, it is a primarily social setting which enables you to feel good about yourself, even though the muscles you are mainly working are those in your mouth as you gab with friends or your fingers as you mindlessly text. For others, there’s a more dedicated, health-oriented goal in mind, with the gym serving as a place of focus and drive. Then there are those who are on another level entirely, seemingly determined to develop a comical, outrageous amount of muscle tissue, if they haven’t done so already.

More often than not, these people are far from naturally enhanced. Typically, these people are a product of Synthol abuse, a site enhancing oil designed to “fluff” muscles, or mimic their appearance where it may otherwise be disproportionate or lagging. It isn’t that these folks don’t hit the gym to further beef up their jarring physique, but the images that you will see here aren’t simply the product of a few bicep curls and a protein shake. When applied modestly, the completely legal Synthol product has been known to serve as a point of controversy within the world of professional bodybuilding. When used excessively, it can result in the type of grotesque, freakish physicality represented here.

It’s remarkable to consider the supposed evolution of the bodybuilder in recent decades. Where bodybuilding champions were once buff muscle-men with impressively sculpted but accessible figures, modern competitors are jacked, genetically engineered freaks of nature with muscles upon muscles and bulging veins. Compare, for example, the physique of 70’s era three-time Mr. Olympia champion Frank Zane’s 185-pount chiseled frame to the monstrous arms and gargantuan calves of recent four-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, the most recognizable bodybuilder of all-time for whom the elite Arnold Classic was named, didn’t boast the kind of body to compete with the mastodons of today. The physiques of modern bodybuilders were, quite literally, unattainable during the early days of the sport.

Unfortunately, it’s tough to see this as positive progress for the sport. While there is something undeniably mesmerizing about the spectacle of seeing people with muscles in places that you didn’t even know existed, the chemical dependency of many bodybuilders is clearly having averse side effects. This list will not only reveal physical builds that seem humanly impossible, but also the emerging dangerous dark side of the business, which includes severe health consequences such as strange physical changes and even premature deaths.

Where bodybuilding was once about tone, balance and symmetry, many have adopted the sport as a challenge to simply develop – however necessary – the biggest, gnarliest features possible. The use of steroids like Synthol is a major point of controversy in the world of bodybuilding, but more importantly poses a health risk for any individual looking for a quick way to build up hulking muscle mass. Back Workout For Men Over 40 -- With Fitness Model Brooke Stacey

Get The Physique You Deserve: guys,

Here with me at Abs After 40 is Miss Brooke Stacey and we are going to do a back workout today.

We're going to get started with a really common back exercise that is a mainstay at almost every gym and it hits one of the biggest muscle groups of our back - our lats, or latissimus dorsi - and the exercise is the lat pulldown.

We'll start with 3 warm up sets of a super light weight and something that's really simple so that we can get our joints and muscles ready for these movements.

Focus on arching the middle/upper back, and pulling the elbows straight down to the ground. You should feel this in your lats, which are on the sides of your back below your arms.

Next we're going to move into Brooke's exercise - the straight arm lat pull (or push)down. Standing with feet shoulder width apart, push the shoulders back and down to get into the proper position for the movement. Then you will just keep everything steady and stabilized as you pull the weight down with your arms staying straight or only slightly bent, but never changing the angle of your elbows throughout the movement.

Our third exercise will be some seated cable rows. You can choose a number of different cable attachments that allow you to switch your grip on the bar, which can introduce some different muscles or different angles while you're doing this movement, while still hitting the same general muscle group.

Sitting tall with your shoulders pulled down and back and chest up, try to pull your scapula (or shoulder blades) back and together. This part of the movement is what really works the actual back muscles. Pull the elbows back just slightly further to tighten and increase your contraction and to also engage the biceps.

Grab a wider grip with palms neutral or facing down to incorporate the posterior deltoids, and keep the grip more narrow to focus on the other muscle groups of the back more so. With any of these movements you will also be hitting parts of the trapezius and lats, plus some smaller muscle groups.

Next up we've got single arm dumbbell rows and I wanted to demonstrate this for you because I see a lot of guys in the gym really butcher this one. I want you to think about pulling your elbow back toward your hip rather than just focusing on bringing the dumbbell straight up into the air. This will encourage proper activation of your back musculature and hit those muscle groups that we've really been focusing on today - namely, the lats and a little bit of the traps as well.

I also want to show you guys another one of my favorites that's great for hitting some of these upper back muscles, including the rear (or posterior) deltoids again and a couple other smaller (but still just as important) back muscles. Also a few different areas of the trapezius will be activating here too.

Alright guys, that's 5 solid back exercises that we've shown you today although there's a ton more you could do, but hopefully you learned something new to incorporate into your own back day, or maybe got a lesson in form and technique.

I haven't actually done real 1RM tests in the beginning. These are just estimations based on the weights I trained with. I found a 1RM calculator online that said that it's pretty accurate up to 10 reps so I used its estimations. If I had known the technique better and if I had been able to push myself harder, I probably could have handled more weight but I was afraid to do the movements wrong and I found it kind of scary to use weights I am not sure I can handle - especially when it comes to bench press and squats.

I followed a very strict diet and without that, it would just not have been possible to change as drastically as I did. In general: I’m a pescetarian, that means, I don’t eat meat except for fish. I started with the Freeletics Nutrition Guide and applied the knowledge in a way that worked best for me. I will try to break it down to a few simple steps:

1) The key is finding what works best for you and then sticking to it: The first couple of weeks I only focussed on gaining weight as that has been my biggest struggle so far. High protein and high carb diet. Lot’s of fish and seafood. My calorie intake was up to about 4000kcal/day. After a while I realized that was too much as I was gaining fat as well and went down to a high protein moderate carb diet with a little more than 3000kcal which worked way better for me. My body developed the way I wanted it to and my performance went through the roof..

2) No alcohol, no added sugar, no processed food at all. Real foods - that’s what is the basis for everyone. Don’t eat stuff you can’t pronounce. Just don’t do it.

3) It helps to track your calories and weigh your food. You need to know what you are eating as well as how much of it. It’s the same as for training: Doing the right exercises is the first step, programming it is the second. That's why the Freeletics Gym Coach worked for me.

4) Schedule your meals according to your day. Your body needs to be fueled with the right nutrients throughout the day and has special needs at certain times, i.e. I always ate a banana and drank a protein shake directly (15mins max) after training as the body needs carbs and proteins to regenerate and refuel. I also precooked my food for the whole day every morning.

5) Supplements: I took 5g of creatine and a protein shake right after each training.

Again: If you don't take nutrition serious, it just won't work. ;-)
